Wow, what a trip, We started off from the North Shore planning on a ride of approximately 560kms heading down the western side of the north island. Leaving around 8:45am after meeting Dave & Kirsty, we headed south across the harbour bridge and once at the bombays our perfect weather dissappeared and thick fog replaced it nearly all the way to Huntly, So on we cruised at nothing above legal speeds south to Nguarawahia, Plenty of cops and camera vans around, some hiding (which they dont do ofcourse

What a brillaint day for a ride, Lo is in bed crook and doesnt want to aggrivate her Cold so will spend the day bugging out.
I headed off on the bike bright and early, picked up a couple of mates and headed south down the motorway, Plenty of Sporties out and a few old school cruisers, we passed the Ullysees club heading north on their outing up the motorway, a real mix of burgman scooters & all sorts of bikes, (holding up the traffic in the outside lane ofcourse
why? when the inside lane is open and they have a line of cars behind ..strange,
Turned left at the Bombays and a nice openroad pace to Kopu, where we hook up with a couple more, they have been trying to get an early start on some refreshments but we were bang on time
. so off we head to Thames and a strong coffee and a bite of morning tea.

Well after completing a 1600km journey down the east coast to wellington and then back up the other side, the Voyager is proving everything the manufacturers claimed. A great Vtwin motor that purrs along at open road speeds with such ease its just brilliant and it handles far better than any cruiser ive run, Truely built for the road, it aint a poser bike, (though it is striking) The weight, while noticable when stopped, just dissappears once mobile, very very responsive, blows corners more comfortably than a sporty and PDQ when asked to
After spending 1600kms ( a long run in period) just easing it around the bottom half of its rev range, this trip was to open her up a bit and get a feel for her pace. well, it didnt fall short, the six gear (overdrive) still has great pull, but drop her down a tooth or two and its damn quick, and having such a great fairing you hardly notice, it is just so aero dynamic. Fuel consumption went up a little (probably a bare 300kms per tank when stepping up) but well in excess when controlling the wrist
Luggage / storage is brilliant tho I still want to find a top box rack for it to carry my sheepskin for the really long hauls. Read the rest of this entry »

Another big tour of the north and south island is now complete, 5600 odd kilometers in 14 days and some of the best touring Ive done anywhere.
We started on the 12th Feburary, the plan being that all riders would meet at nights at fixed overnight stops, make their own changes to routes to suit themselves, dive off here, join up there, whatever, if they wished to visit specific places, or to travel as a group, riders choice, Id made requests during the year for any specific spots people wanted included, without a lot of response I might add, so I set a basic route seemed popular. I had assumed other riders would at least load the route into thier satelite navigations or at least take a map, but it seems only some did. So off we set riding from the north shore to our over night stop in Wellington. Two routes in mind, depending on the weather either a straight SH1 run or basically zig zagging down the western side of the north island, no particular destinations in mind but rather to catch some roads I havent done for some time. its the ride thats important rather than the destination as they say
We stopped every 160 odd kms for fuel and Taumaranui for a refuel of riders and headed on to National Park and Ohakune, on to Waiouru.

Once again within a month, one of our old aged pensioners, a woman (could have been your or my mother) was Attacked, Kidnapped in her own car, robbed and then finally dumped.
Im ashamed to say, the parents and freinds of these dirt bags (less than animals) know and have seen the pictures on the TV and havent yet got the guts to turn them in. These aint little childrenm but teenagers who should have been taught right and wrong, as well as respect for others.
I say pick up these peices of dirt, and give em a few weeks in the town square, locked in the “Stocks” of old. maybe they will learn when all their freinds see them for what they are , gutless peices of dirt.
After which they can work off the damage they have done in the community where they committed this crime,
Times like this Im ashamed to be considered a Kiwi
